Let’s Talk About Prostate Cancer
An interview with Charles (Chuck) Maack, Prostate Cancer Advocate/Mentor of the Wichita, Kansas Chapter, Us TOO Intl., Inc. Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network, during the 2009 PCRI Conference on Prostate Cancer. Mr. Maack acknowledges that during the interview when he was explaining androgen receptors not being entirely blocked, he stated "LHRH agonists" when he had meant to say "antiandrogens." And in support of triple hormonal blockade/ADT3, the third medication he forgot to mention should be a 5Alpha Reductase (5AR) inhibitor, either dutasteride/Avodart (preferred) or alternatively finasteride/Proscar, to inhibit testosterone coming in contact with 5AR enzymes in the cancer cell nucleus from conversion to the much more powerful stimulant to cancer cell growth, dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
